Familiar sight as Look Closely ensures Scoop6 rollover

There was a case of deja vu as Look Closely rattled home to victory at Ascot on Saturday. For the second time in three weeks, Roger Varian’s gelding ensured there were no winners of the Tote Scoop6.

After multiple rollovers, the Win fund stood at a mouthwatering £248,717.60 at the start of what looked a very winnable pool.

Things looked hopeful in the opener as Chil Chil, the most popular horse in the first leg carried 28% of units into the second contest of the Scoop6.

However, victories for Via Serendipity and Island Brave ensured that just 21 units were left as the fourth leg set off around Swinley Bottom.

Look Closely, one of five horses in the 12-strong field not covered by the remaining units, looked in little trouble until the final strides, but held on well from the also un-supported Hyanna.

With the Scoop6 Win pool rolling for another week, there’s now the potential for there to be over £400,000 in the combined pools in seven days' time.

Tote spokesman, Ben Stones said: “While we were denied a big Scoop6 winner once again, 241 lucky units walked away with a £168.50 dividend from the Place fund. 

“All eyes will now be on next week where we could have the biggest winner for some time.”
