Pic D’Orhy spoils the party for hopeful Scoop6 players

The wait for a winner of the Scoop6 continues for another week, as Pic D’Orhy ended the hopes of those still in the running with a hard-fought victory in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury. The chances of a punter landing the £80,403.09 pool looked good with 31 units heading into the sixth and final leg. But with Paul Nicholls’ gelding one of the seven not covered by those remaining units, the prize rolls again. Rouge Vif’s victory in the Kingmaker at Warwick not only enshrined his Arkle claims, but also brought 2,565 units through to Leg 3 after One For The Team had bagged victory at Newbury in Leg 1. Bigger cheers were to come when dual Champion Chaser, Altior returned to the Winner’s Enclosure in style at Newbury. He sets up a mouth-watering clash at Cheltenham with Defi Du Seuil and new kid on the block, Chacun Pour Soi. Paul Webber’s Indefatigable showed that her disappointing Sandown performance last month was just a blip as she bounced back to winning ways at Warwick, before Clondaw Castle scooted clear in Leg 5 to set up a blockbuster of a Scoop6 climax. Willie Mullins’ Ciel De Neige was the most popular horse for Scoop6 players, but with Harry Cobden driving his mount home for a surprise victory, the 7 units on Aiden Coleman’s back were left disappointed. While none of the Scoop6 players were left celebrating, anyone who found the 1-2-3 of Pic D’Orhy, Ciel De Neige and Remiluc will be toasting a Tote Trifecta dividend of £59,042.50. All eyes will now be on Ascot and Haydock as the pool continues to grow. Tote spokesman, Ben Stones said: “Scoop6 players could be competing for a combined Win and Bonus fund in excess of £450,000 next week. With Harry Cobden set to don Johnny De La Hey’s colours aboard Cyrname at Ascot, he could be the man to have the final say on the competition once again.”
