Sands Shock sends Scoop6 Soaring

Sands Of Mali scored a 14/1 shock in the Gimcrack at York on the final day of the Ebor festival to send the Scoop6 soaring into September.

Punters were falling over themselves to get involved in the popular bet and £393,493 now lines the win fund while £173,206 nestles in the bonus pot.

Earlier in the afternoon wins for the fancied foursome Mustashry (5/2f) Billesdon Brook (4/1) Secret Advisor (5/1f) and Johnny Barnes (13/2) still saw 172 units in play going into leg 5 but Sands Of Mali was uncovered.

Totepool Spokesman Matt Hulmes said “With fancied horses flying in it looked like a case of how many winners in the Scoop6 but Sands Of Mali ended all hopes. It now means September begins with a potentially £3/4 million combined prize fund.”

There were 140 winners of the place fund which paid £195.60
